Hello! My name is Emily Fowler, and I’ve had the joy of teaching American Sign Language here at Collab! For now, I’ll be stepping back to focus on my biggest ministry—being a mama. 💛 I’ll still be offering week-long ASL camps during the summer and school year, so keep an eye out!

A little about me: I love Jesus, springtime, and iced chai lattes. My husband and I enjoy exploring small towns with our toddler in tow. I discovered my love for ASL in high school after struggling in Spanish—turns out I’m a visual and kinesthetic learner! I went on to study Deaf Studies at Cal State Northridge and began my journey toward interpreting, until God led me unexpectedly to Virginia, where I met my husband and began teaching locally.

It’s been such a gift to share the beauty of ASL. I hope to see you in a class soon!

Jennifer graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She spent several years teaching and substitute teaching as well as working for a non-profit in Family Services. After starting a family, she opted to stay home and homeschool all three daughters. She has spent over 19 years homeschooling so far.

While homeschooling, she has taught in a variety of co-op settings, and learned many lessons during the pandemic about how to make online learning more engaging and meaningful. She enjoys working in children’s ministry and has also been a 4-H leader for many years. On those rare occasions when there is free time, she enjoys reading, embroidery, crafts, and spending time with family.
